Hi I’m Janine and I’m an acquired taste.
So after many requests to blog this journey off we go. Being diagnosed with early very common treatable breast cancer wasn’t actually a shock, wasn’t upsetting wasn’t really anything other than relief. It’s treatable so come on then let’s get it treated!
I’m not naive and recently went to two funerals on consecutive days for women who started out with the same diagnosis as me. However I can only comment on my journey as it unfolds.
So far it’s been such fun .
My story is simple I was told three times by GP’s that my lump was just fatty tissue…. great I can be fat on the inside as well as the outside ! People have asked me if I was angry about this … nope GP’s are human they were doing their best . EXCEPT the one who told me to come back to see a female doctor.
Female doctor? Why? To be honest it’s more natural for me personally to have men rummaging my boobs never really had a female poking about. Perhaps I need to reconsider, perhaps said doctor was helping me gain new experiences.
Well now we are at the point where I await my treatment plan.
My story so far is so dull. Had mammogram… consultant hadn’t wanted to do this as he was sure all was fine . It was a sort of while you are here might as well type mammogram.
I love mammograms. They make me laugh . How liberating to stand in a cool big open space boobs out passing the time of day with the radiographer. We had such a giggle about the menopause.
Not sure how mammograms are for smaller boobs but to me the squashing and squishing and stretching is like a deep tissue massage.
Waited outside for results was told needed another go … yay … NHS massages … such fun…waited outside… called in again this time people had serious faces except me… I’d sort of guessed but no one would have a giggle with me now … boring.
Sent for scan …. serious man with serious tone… biopsy …. ouch smarts a bit … still curled my toes and got on with it. Had to have two doses of anaesthetic as boob quite large ha ha .
Week later told it was early cancer… went on social media to encourage rummaging.
And I mean rummage! My lump was fatty tissue but under there was an iddy biddy 3 mm cancer … you have to dig in deep to find these little blighters … especially big boobed women.
Rummaging together: some people will start to rummage you but forget and it becomes a grope… many of us will pretend to our partners we are groping but are actually rummaging…. doesn’t matter just keep rummaging .
